About the Director

Tricia Collins, is an actress and filmmaker. Tricia completed the Bell Media and WGC Diverse Screenwriter’s program, under the mentorship of Sarah Dodd. She holds a Master of Arts from Ryerson University’s RTA School of Media and a BFA in contemporary theatre from SFU.

She most recently directed Clinch: A Violent Love Story about professional female boxers with the support of an NFB FAP grant. Clinch premiered at the Richard Harris Film Festival in Limerick, Ireland where it was nominated for best Cinematography and then won for best actress at the Women in Film International Film Festival in Vancouver. Tricia directed Infect Me Not, a dystopian short film about young lovers. Her first short film REACH, was inspired by her late father’s receding memories, and has screened at the WIFT International Showcase, Vancouver International Women’s Film Festival, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, LabCab Festival, the Female Eye Film Festival and the NSI online Film Festival. She was a playwright and theatre producer at urban ink productions in Vancouver for 8 years.

In 2008 she wrote, produced and performed in her one-woman play Gravity, which has toured internationally to Trinidad, Montreal and opened Carifesta the Caribbean Festival of the Arts in Guyana garnering high acclaim and attending by the President and other dignitaries.
