Synopsis

Set in the liminal space between our postcolonial reality and deep-seeded ancestral intuition, Ghost Island is both an interpretation of and an ode to the shadows that live around us.

GHOST ISLAND, will play before the feature film, PAROLES DE NÈGRES, as part of the Closing Night Program, the nostalgic ones.

Lisandro Suriel

About the Director

Lisandro Suriel, was born and raised in Saint Martin in the Dutch Caribbean. He has a BA in photography from the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague and an MA in artistic research and art studies from the University of Amsterdam. As part of his master’s thesis he analyzed early 20th-century illustrations of West Indian mythology in relation to cultural aphasia. This research forms the foundation of his ongoing artistic project Ghost Island.
