In a remote island village “behind God’s back,” Skimma dreams of leaving the only place he’s ever known to explore the world. When Rebecca tells him she’s carrying his child, Skimma finds himself torn between his desire to leave the island and the new responsibilities that come with fatherhood. But Skimma has a plan. Taking advantage of skills honed alongside a cheesemaker, Skimma embraces a new profession: village weed supplier. Almost immediately, everyone wants what he’s cooking.

Damian Marcano, was born in Trinidad and moved to the USA when he was 12. After studying medicine, he became a web designer and programmer and then a filmmaker. His first feature was God Loves the Fighter (2013), which was a THFF selection. Chee$e (2022), his second feature, premiered at SXSW Film Festival. He has also directed several shorts films and episodic television, including two episodes of HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022).
