Synopsis

Struggling to navigate adulthood and sexuality, Candy painfully returns to her childhood home. However after a moment of impossibility, Candy finds herself pouring her secrets out to a group of dazzling strangers.

An experimental and psychedelic short, music by Indigenous Guyanese composer(Chad Shew), written and produced by a Guyanese queer woman (Premika Leo) and directed by a Guyanese woman (Brittany Misir).

A proudly Caribbean QTBIPOC short film both in front and behind the camera. The film features the talent of West Indian diasporic youth from Guyana, Trinidad and Jamaica, living in Canada.

SUGAR FREE, will screen as part of the queer ones program.

Brittany Misir, is an Indo-Guyanese Director based in Toronto, Canada. She has had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients from Olympic athletes to restauranteurs; and everything in between!
